Let's travel to Thailand with authentic country-style street food at Saap Ver in San Francisco where we savor real Thai flavors like never before!

Saap Ver Damn Good! Thai street food is located at 88 Division St, San Francisco, CA 94103
Watching the newest and controversial season 3 of The White Lotus has sparked my desire for genuine and daring Thai cuisine. A Thai friend of mine took us to Saap Ver, where we immersed ourselves in distinct Thai flavors that transported us to a festive atmosphere reminiscent of vibrant Thailand.
Saap Ver is one of the long-standing restaurants since 2015 in San Francisco, celebrated for its colorful and lively feel that captures the essence of Thai culture. The restaurant emphasizes the importance of quality ingredients, aiming to highlight unique regional Thai dishes that are often overlooked. With Chef Kobe, also known as Nutnawat Aukcarapasutanun, Saap Ver seeks to expand the culinary experiences of San Franciscans by offering a diverse array of authentic country-style Thai street food.

Saap Ver's dedication to quality shines through in their careful selection of top-notch ingredients and unique cooking methods, guaranteeing a meal that avoids any shortcuts that might compromise flavor. The lively atmosphere and decor of Saap Ver are inspired by the bright colors and energy of Thai street markets, combined with the nostalgic feel of outdoor film screenings from the 1970s.
Saap Ver's menu showcases the true essence of Thai cuisine, highlighting signature dishes like som tum (papaya salad), num tok (beef larb), grilled catfish, and nam kao tod (Thai sausage with crispy rice). Every dish is expertly prepared to take you on a flavorful journey.

Saap Ver offers an impressive variety of enticing dishes to choose from. To make things easier, they offer daily Chef's menu, which takes the stress out of deciding what to eat. Luckily, I have a Thai friend who helped us in picking out which dishes to try this time.

For our starter, we chose the North & East Thai Sausage, which is a sampler platter featuring Northern-style Thai herb pork sausage (SAI OUI) alongside North-Eastern (I-SAAN) style fermented rice pork sausage. It comes with ginger, chili, lime, and roasted peanuts for added flavor. And we also ordered the Salted Wings which are crispy, deep-fried chicken wings prepared in a traditional Thai country style and seasoned with salt.

I was thrilled to try the main dish, which was the Five Spices Pork Leg. This dish is made of a slow-cooked pork leg, a boiled egg, Chinese broccoli, and pickled green mustard, all accompanied by a chili vinegar sauce. As a loves eating rich and tender textured meat, I found it absolutely delightful.

Typically, we only go for Pad Thai when we visit a Thai restaurant, but this time my friend encouraged us to try as well Rad Nah Pork which is a marinated pork and Chinese broccoli served in a savory gravy over flat noodles stir-fried with soy sauce. Although the taste and texture were unfamiliar to me, I must admit it was definitely worth trying.

We really shouldn't have ordered another dish, but we couldn't help ourselves when we saw the Seafood Curry Stir Fry on their menu. This dish has so many ingredients that it makes us really curious to give it a try! It has prawns, scallops, calamari, and mussels, all cooked in a rich yellow curry powder sauce with egg, milk, white onion, green onion, Chinese celery, bell pepper, and a Thai sweet savory sauce. The flavors blended together in a delightful explosion that’s hard to put into words, but I can definitely say it was unbelievably delicious.

Saap Ver presents a carefully crafted drink menu that includes a variety of juices and cocktails, all designed to complement their wide-ranging food offerings. For our drinks we had fresh coconut and decided to try their cocktail called "Lady Boy" because of its intriguing name. It’s a mix of Thai beer and pineapple juice. It was incredibly refreshing, just what we needed to cool off in this warm weather lately.

We planned to get some desserts, but after all the food we had, it became clear that we had ordered too much than what we could finish. We were quite stuffed and decided to pass on dessert this time. Nevertheless, Saap Ver has some intriguing dessert options that we definitely want to try on our next visit. We'll be more strategic next time with our food choices to ensure we leave some space for the sweets.

Saap Ver has a lively atmosphere that feels like a celebration, making dining there a joyful experience. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a group meal with friends. We went there to fulfill our cravings for authentic Thai food, and and it certainly lived up to our expectations. One visit just isn’t enough, so we plan to return soon to try more of their menu, particularly the cocktails and desserts.

So don’t hesitate—book your table at this restaurant! I assure you it will be one of the best Thai dining experience you can find in San Francisco. You can also place orders using food delivery apps such as DoorDash, UberEats and Postmates! Order now!
